The Tortoise In Keystone Heights Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF GAAHIJ KLMNNO

When I knew it was rainingA
Winter in decline I was tiredB
You in your soaked shirt diffusedC
into the western sky bulging with cloudsD
speeding cars a few feet awayE
why would they not slow downF
-
Though afternoon a slip of moonG
busied itself with risingA
and it had to mean somethingA
If only the moon were not outH
You shoveled the crushed tortoiseI
and her eggs off the highway into the dirtJ
-
Those soft white eggsK
This is how I love youL
drenched with Florida rainM
and looking like hellN
Florida itself a hellN
the moonlit rain a rain of fireO
