I am a South African, though,
I am not defined by my borders.
I live and reside here, though
It is not my own.
Past transgressions has fueled violence,
Though I still see protestations and killings in our townships and towns.
I see the fear ....
I see the hatred...
I see the rage...
Directed against our brothers and sisters,
Directed against people such as you and I,
People in search of a peaceful life,
People who once provided us with refuge,
I see the fear....
I see the hatred...
I see the rage..
Acknowledging that our problems won’t “just go away”
Let us stop the violence
Let us stop the bloodshed
Let us reconcile as the revered rainbow nation
As sons and daughters of our African continent
Let us chant Nkosi sikelel’ iAfrika
FOR
I am a South African though,
I am not defined by my borders,
I live and reside here though,
It is not my own,
Above all I am a son of the African continent
Mayibuye iAfrika
