| frightened and on guard | K |

| It's people I'm afraid of afraid | L |
| of my own kind knowing their angers | M |
| and schemes and violent needs knowing | B |
| through knowledge of myself | N |
| that I have learned to resist | O |
| but when I can't I have seen | P |
| the havoc I have made | L |

| It's this knowing their desperate motives | Q |
| as I have known mine I'm afraid of | R |
| in them I hide upon a bed | S |
| behind a brick wall and listen | I |
| to engines roaring up and down | T |
| the street and to voices shouting | B |
| to one another and find no meaning | B |
| or order in them as there is none | I |
| in me when I am free of self restraint | U |
