From lockdown to shutdown,
Tears sweep down the faces of many,
Men of the underworld on a rampage,
Maiming, defiling and killing,
Sirens come and go,
Our sleep a vague memory,
Our hearts skipping many beats,
Fathers become protectors,
The fate of many in their inexperienced watch guard's arms.
Deaths and pillages,
Masks and hand washing,
Fear now a well known friend,
Happiness a distant memory,
Faith houses became a court of taboo,
Schools, an abomination
Smoke and ashes
Soot and heat,
We now grasp for sanity,
As the outside has moved far away,
Hunger sets in, darkness is descending,
But we do not despair,
There's light on the other side.
