The Sunday News Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MNOP

Looking for something in the Sunday paperA
I flipped by accident through Local WeddingsB
Yet missed the photograph until I sawC
your name among the headingsB
-
And there you were looking almost unchangedD
Your hair still long though now long out of styleE
And you still wore that stiff and serious lookF
You called a smileE
-
I felt as though we sat there face to faceG
My stomach tightened I read the item throughH
It said too much about both familiesI
Too little about youH
-
Finished at last I threw the paper downJ
Stung by jealousy my mind aflameK
Hating this man this stranger whom you lovedL
This printed nameK
-
And yet I clipped it out to put awayM
Inside a book like something I might useN
A scrap I knew I wouldn't read againO
But couldn't bear to loseP
