never climbed the ladderB
burning in his dream SleepC
pressed him like a stoneD
in the dustE

like a flame to joinH

and closedK
his eyes to the SeraphimL
ascending unconsciousM
of the impossible distancesN
between their stepsO

them mount the brilliantQ
ladder slowly disappearingJ
into the scattered lightR
between the starsS

through it all a stoneD
upon a stone pillowU
shivering GravityV
always greater than desireB
