| At first we laugh and then we wonder | C |

| enshrouded in its sickly sweet | G |
| and lingering perfume The roses | H |

| and now the ferns are turning dry | F |
| The room smells like a funeral | J |
| but there they sit too much at home | K |
| accusing us of some small crime | I |
| like love forgotten and we can't | L |
| throw out a gift we've never owned | M |
