Virgin Youth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDECFCCEGGCHIJEKKC ELNow and again | A |
All my body springs alive | B |
And the life that is polarised in my eyes | C |
That quivers between my eyes and mouth | D |
Flies like a wild thing across my body | E |
Leaving my eyes half empty and clamorous | C |
Filling my still breasts with a flush and a flame | F |
Gathering the soft ripples below my breasts | C |
Into urgent passionate waves | C |
And my soft slumbering belly | E |
Quivering awake with one impulse of desire | G |
Gathers itself fiercely together | G |
And my docile fluent arms | C |
Knotting themselves with wild strength | H |
To clasp what they have never clasped | I |
Then I tremble and go trembling | J |
Under the wild strange tyranny of my body | E |
Till it has spent itself | K |
And the relentless nodality of my eyes reasserts itself | K |
Till the bursten flood of life ebbs back to my eyes | C |
Back from my beautiful lonely body | E |
Tired and unsatisfied | L |
