Since this is the last night I keep you homeA
Come I will consecrate you for the journeyB
-
Rather I had you would not go Nay comeC
I will not again reproach you Lie backD
And let me love you a long time ere you goE
For you are sullen hearted still and lackD
The will to love me But even soE
I will set a seal upon you from my lipF
Will set a guard of honour at each doorG
Seal up each channel out of which might slipF
Your love for meB
-
I kiss your mouth Ah loveH
Could I but seal its ruddy shining springI
Of passion parch it up destroy removeJ
Its softly stirring crimson welling upK
Of kisses Oh help me God Here at the sourceL
I'd lie for ever drinking and drawing inM
Your fountains as heaven drinks from out their courseL
The floodsN
-
I close your ears with kissesO
And seal your nostrils and round your neck you'll wearP
Nay let me work a delicate chain of kissesO
Like beads they go around and not one missesO
To touch its fellow on either sideQ
-
And thereP
Full mid between the champaign of your breastR
I place a great and burning seal of loveH
Like a dark rose a mystery of restR
On the slow bubbling of your rhythmic heartS
-
Nay I persist and very faith shall keepT
You integral to me Each door each mystic portU
Of egress from you I will seal and steepT
In perfect chrismB
Now it is done The mortU
Will sound in heaven before it is undoneV
-
But let me finish what I have begunV
And shirt you now invulnerable in the mailW
Of iron kisses kisses linked like steelX
Put greaves upon your thighs and knees and frailW
Webbing of steel on your feet So you shall feelX
Ensheathed invulnerable with me with sevenV
Great seals upon your outgoings and wovenV
Chain of my mystic will wrapped perfectlyB
Upon you wrapped in indomitable meB
