Perfidy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAC DEFFG HIHHJ KLKKM NONNPQNN

Hollow rang the house when I knocked on the doorA
And I lingered on the threshold with my handB
Upraised to knock and knock once moreA
Listening for the sound of her feet across the floorA
Hollow re echoed my heartC
-
The low hung lamps stretched down the roadD
With shadows drifting underneathE
With a music of soft melodious feetF
Quickening my hope as I hastened to meetF
The low hung light of her eyesG
-
The golden lamps down the street went outH
The last car trailed the night behindI
And I in the darkness wandered aboutH
With a flutter of hope and of dark shut doubtH
In the dying lamp of my loveJ
-
Two brown ponies trotting slowlyK
Stopped at a dim lit trough to drinkL
The dark van drummed down the distance slowlyK
While the city stars so dim and holyK
Drew nearer to search through the streetsM
-
A hastening car swept shameful pastN
I saw her hid in the shadowO
I saw her step to the curb and fastN
Run to the silent door where lastN
I had stood with my hand upliftedP
She clung to the door in her haste to enterQ
Entered and quickly castN
It shut behind her leaving the street aghastN
