Autumn Sunshine Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE GHHG IJJI KLMM

The sun sets out the autumn crocusesA
And fills them up a pouring measureB
Of death producing wine till treasureB
Runs waste down their chalicesA
-
All all Persephone's pale cups of mouldC
Are on the board are over filledD
The portion to the gods is spilledD
Now mortals all take holdC
-
The time is now the wine cup full and fullE
Of lambent heaven a pledging cupF
Let now all mortal men take upF
The drink and a long strong pullE
-
Out of the hell queen's cup the heaven's pale wineG
Drink then invisible heroes drinkH
Lips to the vessels never shrinkH
Throats to the heavens inclineG
-
And take within the wine the god's great oathI
By heaven and earth and hellish streamJ
To break this sick and nauseous dreamJ
We writhe and lust in bothI
-
Swear in the pale wine poured from the cups of the queenK
Of hell to wake and be freeL
From this nightmare we writhe inM
Break out of this foul has beenM
