The Attack Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCB DEDE FGFG HIHI JHJH IGIG DGDG

When we came out of the woodA
Was a great lightB
The night uprisen stoodA
In whiteB
-
I wondered I looked aroundC
It was so fair The brightB
Stubble upon the groundC
Shone whiteB
-
Like any field of snowD
Yet warm the chaseE
Of faint night breaths did goD
Across my faceE
-
White bodied and warm the night wasF
Sweet scented to hold in my throatG
White and alight the night wasF
A pale stroke smoteG
-
The pulse through the whole bland beingH
Which was This and meI
A pulse that still went fleeingH
Yet did not fleeI
-
After the terrible rage the deathJ
This wonder stood glisteningH
All shapes of wonder with suspended breathJ
Arrested listeningH
-
In ecstatic reverieI
The whole white NightG
With wonder every black treeI
Blossomed outrightG
-
I saw the transfigurationD
And the present HostG
TransubstantiationD
Of the Luminous GhostG
