History Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED AFGF HIJI KLKL I

The listless beauty of the hourA
When snow fell on the apple treesB
And the wood ash gathered in the fireA
And we faced our first miseriesB
-
Then the sweeping sunshine of noonC
When the mountains like chariot carsD
Were ranked to blue battle and you and IE
Counted our scarsD
-
And then in a strange grey hourA
We lay mouth to mouth with your faceF
Under mine like a star on the lakeG
And I covered the earth and all spaceF
-
The silent drifting hoursH
Of morn after mornI
And night drifting up to the nightJ
Yet no pathway wornI
-
Your life and mine my loveK
Passing on and on the hateL
Fusing closer and closer with loveK
Till at length they mateL
-
THE CEARNEI
