They Should Have Provided Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGHIJKLML CCL NOPQR PCPCP A SPC TUVWX

I have almost been reduced to a homeless pauperA
This fatal city AntiochB
has consumed all my moneyC
this fatal city with its expensive lifeD
-
But I am young and in excellent healthE
My command of Greek is superbF
I know all there is about Aristotle PlatoG
orators poets you name itH
I have an idea of military affairsI
and have friends among the mercenary chiefsJ
I am on the inside of administration as wellK
Last year I spent six months in AlexandriaL
I have some knowledge and this is useful of affairs thereM
intentions of the Malefactor and villainies et ceteraL
-
Therefore I believe that I am fullyC
qualified to serve this countryC
my beloved homeland SyriaL
-
In whatever capacity they place me I shall striveN
to be useful to the country This is my intentO
Then again if they thwart me with their methodsP
we know those able people need we talk about it nowQ
if they thwart me I am not to blameR
-
First I shall apply to ZabinasP
and if this moron does not appreciate meC
I shall go to his rival GryposP
And if this idiot does not hire meC
I shall go straight to HyrcanosP
-
One of the three will want me howeverA
-
And my conscience is not troubledS
about not worrying about my choiceP
All three harm Syria equallyC
-
But a ruined man why is it my faultT
Wretched man I am trying to make ends meetU
The almighty gods should have providedV
and created a fourth good manW
Gladly would I have joined himX
