The Satrapy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGGHHIJKLHHMHHN H

What a misfortune although you are madeA
for fine and great worksB
this unjust fate of yours alwaysC
denies you encouragement and successD
that base customs should block youE
and pettiness and indifferenceF
And how terrible the day when you yieldG
the day when you give up and yieldG
and you leave on foot for SusaH
and you go to the monarch ArtaxerxesH
who favorably places you in his courtI
and offers you satrapies and the likeJ
And you accept them with despairK
these things that you do not wantL
Your soul seeks other things weeps for other thingsH
the praise of the public and the SophistsH
the hard won and inestimable Well DoneM
the Agora the Theater and the LaurelsH
How can Artaxerxes give you theseH
where will you find these in a satrapyN
and what life can you live without theseH
