Of Coloured Glass Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDBEFBGHIJJBC

I am very moved by one detailA
in the coronation at Vlachernai of John KantakuzinosB
and Irini daughter of Andronikos AsanC
Because they had only a few precious stonesB
our afflicted empire was extremely poorD
they wore artificial ones numerous pieces of glassB
red green or blue I findE
nothing humiliating or undignifiedF
in those little pieces of colored glassB
On the contrary they seemG
a sad protest againstH
the unjust misfortune of the couple being crownedI
symbols of what they deserved to haveJ
of what surely it was right that they should haveJ
at their coronation a Lord John KantakuzinosB
a Lady Irini daughter of Andronikos AsanC
