Rhyme Scheme: ABC BBDBBBBE

I love the church its labaraA
its silver vessels its candleholdersB
the lights the ikons the pulpitC
-
Whenever I go there into a church of the GreeksB
with its aroma of incenseB
its liturgical chanting and harmonyD
the majestic presence of the priestsB
dazzling in their ornate vestmentsB
the solemn rhythm of their gesturesB
my thoughts turn to the great glories of our raceB
to the splendor of our Byzantine heritageE
