He Asked About The Quality Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHFIJKLMNOPPGN QRSTUVWXYZ

He left the office where he'd been givenA
a trivial poorly paid jobB
something like eight pounds a month including bonusesC
left at the end of the dreary workD
that kept him bent all afternoonE
came out at seven and walked off slowlyF
idling his way down the street Good lookingG
and interesting showing as he did that he'd reachedH
his full sensual capacityF
He'd turned twenty nine the month beforeI
He idled his way down the main streetJ
and the poor side streets that led to his homeK
Passing in front of a small shop that soldL
cheap and flimsy merchandise for workersM
he saw a face inside a figureN
that compelled him to go in and he pretendedO
he wanted to look at some coloured handkerchiefsP
He asked about the quality of the handkerchiefsP
and how much they cost his voice chokingG
almost silenced by desireN
And the answers came back in the same moodQ
distracted the voice hushedR
offering hidden consentS
They kept on talking about the merchandiseT
but the only purpose that their hands might touchU
over the handkerchiefs that their faces their lipsV
might move close together as though by chanceW
a moment's meeting of limb against limbX
Quickly secretly so the shop owner sitting at the backY
wouldn't realize what was going onZ
