Candles Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHICJFE

The days of the future stand in front of usA
Like a line of candles all alightB
Golden and warm and lively little candlesC
The days that are past are left behindD
A mournful row of candles that are outE
The nearer ones are still smokingF
Candles cold and melted candles bentG
I don t want to see them their shapes hurt meH
It hurts me to remember the light of them at firstI
I look before me at my lighted candlesC
I don t want to turn around and see with horrorJ
How quickly the dark line is lengtheningF
How quickly the candles multiply that have been put outE
