And I Lounged And Lay On Their Beds Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEDFAGHGD

When I went to that house of pleasureA
I didn't stay in the front rooms where they celebrateB
with some decorum the accepted modes of loveC
I went into the secret roomsD
and lounged and lay on their bedsE
I went into the secret roomsD
considered shameful even to nameF
But not shameful to me because if they wereA
what kind of poet what kind of artist would I beG
I'd rather be an ascetic That would be more in keepingH
much more in keeping with my poetryG
than for me to find pleasure in the commonplace roomsD
