An Old Man Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEF GHI CJK LMN OPQ

At the noisy end of the cafe head bentA
over the table an old man sits aloneB
a newspaper in front of himC
-
And in the miserable banality of old ageD
he thinks how little he enjoyed the yearsE
when he had strength eloquence and looksF
-
He knows he's aged a lot he sees it feels itG
Yet it seems he was young just yesterdayH
So brief an interval so briefI
-
And he thinks of Prudence how it fooled himC
how he always believed what madnessJ
that cheat who said Tomorrow You have plenty of timeK
-
He remembers impulses bridled the joyL
he sacrificed Every chance he lostM
now mocks his senseless cautionN
-
But so much thinking so much rememberingO
makes the old man dizzy He falls asleepP
his head resting on the cafe tableQ
