The House Of Dust: Part 02: 03: Interlude Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEEFGGFCCHII JKJLLMMNONPN

The warm sun dreams in the dust the warm sun fallsA
On bright red roofs and wallsA
The trees in the park exhale a ghost of rainB
We go from door to door in the streets againC
Talking laughing dreaming turning our facesD
Recalling other times and placesD
We crowd not knowing why around a gateE
We crowd together and waitE
A stretcher is carried out voices are stilledF
The ambulance drives awayG
We watch its roof flash by hear someone sayG
'A man fell off the building and was killedF
Fell right into a barrel ' We turn againC
Among the frightened eyes of white faced menC
And go our separate ways each bearing with himH
A thing he tries but vainly to forgetI
A sickened crowd a stretcher red and wetI
-
A hurdy gurdy sings in the crowded streetJ
The golden notes skip over the sunlit stonesK
Wings are upon our feetJ
The sun seems warmer the winding street more brightL
Sparrows come whirring down in a cloud of lightL
We bear our dreams among us bear them allM
Like hurdy gurdy music they rise and fallM
Climb to beauty and dieN
The wandering lover dreams of his lover's mouthO
And smiles at the hostile skyN
The broker smokes his pipe and sees a fortuneP
The murderer hears a cryN
