The House Of Dust: Part 01: 08: The White Fog Creeps From The Cold Sea Over The City Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDD EFGF HHIJI

The white fog creeps from the cold sea over the cityA
Over the pale grey tumbled towersB
And settles among the roofs the pale grey wallsC
Along damp sinuous streets it crawlsC
Curls like a dream among the motionless treesD
And seems to freezeD
-
The fog slips ghostlike into a thousand roomsE
Whirls over sleeping facesF
Spins in an atomy dance round misty street lampsG
And blows in cloudy waves over open spacesF
-
And one from his high window looking downH
Peers at the cloud white townH
And thinks its island towers are like a dreamI
It seems an enormous sleeper within whose brainJ
Laborious shadows revolve and break and gleamI
