Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGGGHGIAJKFLGGThe first bell is silver | A |
And breathing darkness I think only of the long scythe of time | B |
The second bell is crimson | C |
And I think of a holiday night with rockets | D |
Furrowing the sky with red and a soft shatter of stars | E |
The third bell is saffron and slow | F |
And I behold a long sunset over the sea | G |
With wall on wall of castled cloud and glittering balustrades | G |
The fourth bell is color of bronze | G |
I walk by a frozen lake in the dun light of dusk | H |
Muffled crackings run in the ice | G |
Trees creak birds fly | I |
The fifth bell is cold clear azure | A |
Delicately tinged with green | J |
One golden star hangs melting in it | K |
And towards this sleepily I go | F |
The sixth bell is as if a pebble | L |
Had been dropped into a deep sea far above me | G |
Rings of sound ebb slowly into the silence | G |
