Beloved, Let Us Once More Praise The Rain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGGHIJGKLMNOPQR ESTUDV

Beloved let us once more praise the rainA
Let us discover some new alphabetB
For this the often praised and be ourselvesC
The rain the chickweed and the burdock leafD
The green white privet flower the spotted stoneE
And all that welcomes the rain the sparrow tooF
Who watches with a hard eye from seclusionG
Beneath the elm tree bough till rain is doneG
There is an oriole who upside downH
Hangs at his nest and flicks an orange wingI
Under a tree as dead and still as leadJ
There is a single leaf in all this heavenG
Of leaves which rain has loosened from its twigK
The stem breaks and it falls but it is caughtL
Upon a sister leaf and thus she hangsM
There is an acorn cup beside a mushroomN
Which catches three drops from the stooping cloudO
The timid bee goes back to the hive the flyP
Under the broad leaf of the hollyhockQ
Perpends stupid with cold the raindark snailR
Surveys the wet world from a watery stoneE
And still the syllables of water whisperS
The wheel of cloud whirs slowly while we waitT
In the dark room and in your heart I findU
One silver raindrop on a hawthorn leafD
Orion in a cobweb and the WorldV
