Zudora Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDECFGHHIJKGLLMN GNOOBBJJIGPQ

Here on the pale beach in the darknessA
With the full moon just to riseB
They sit alone and look over the seaC
Or into each other's eyesB
She pokes her parasol into the sleepy sandD
Or sifts the lazy whiteness through her handD
'A lovely night ' he says 'the moonE
Comes up for you and meC
Just like a blind old spotlight thereF
Fizzing across the sea 'G
She pays no heed nor even turns her headH
He slides his arm around her waist insteadH
'Why don't we do a sketch togetherI
Those songs you sing are swellJ
Where did you get them anywayK
They suit you awfully well 'G
She will not turn to him will not resistL
Impassive she submits to being kissedL
'My husband wrote all four of themM
You know my husband drownedN
He was always sickly soon depressed 'G
But still she hears the soundN
Of a stateroom door shut hard and footsteps goingO
Swiftly and steadily and the dark sea flowingO
She hears the dark sea flowing and sees his eyesB
Hollow with disenchantment sick surpriseB
And hate of her whom he had loved too wellJ
She lowers her eyes demurely prods a shellJ
'Yes We might do an act togetherI
That would be very nice 'G
He kisses her passionately and thinksP
She's carnal but cold as iceQ
