The Cornet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGHIHJKLKMNAN

When she came out that white little Russian dancerA
With her bright hair and her eyes so young so youngB
He suddenly lost his leader and all the playersC
And only heard an immortal music sungB
Of dryads flashing in the green woods of AprilD
On cobwebs trembing over the deep wet grassE
Fleeing their shadows with laughter with hands upliftedF
Through the whirled sinister sun he saw them passE
Lovely immortals gone yet existing somewhereG
Still somewhere laughing in woods of immortal greenH
Young he had lived among fires or dreamed of livingI
Lovers in youth once seen or dreamed he had seenH
And watched her knees flash up and her young hands beckonJ
And the hair that streamed behind and the taunting eyesK
He felt this place dissolving in living darknessL
And through the darkness he felt his childhood riseK
Soft and shining and sweet hands filled with petalsM
And watching her dance he was grateful to forgetN
The fiddlers leaning and drawing their bows togetherA
And the tired fingers on the stops of his cornetN
