Coloring Book Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQR| Each picture is heartbreakingly banal | A |
| a kitten and a ball of yarn | B |
| a dog and bone | C |
| The paper is cheap easily torn | D |
| A coloring book's authority is derived | E |
| from its heavy black lines | F |
| as unalterable as the ten commandments | G |
| within which minor decisions are possible | H |
| the dog black and white | I |
| the kitten gray | J |
| Under the picture we find a few words | K |
| a title perhaps a narrative | L |
| a psalm or sermon | M |
| But nowhere do we come upon | N |
| a blank page where we might justify | O |
| the careless way we scribbled | P |
| when we were tired and sad | Q |
| and could bear no more | R |
