The Meteorite Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIHI JDJD

Among the hills a meteoriteA
Lies huge and moss has overgrownB
And wind and rain with touches lightA
Made soft the contours of the stoneB
-
Thus easily can Earth digestC
A cinder of sidereal fireD
And make her translunary guestC
The native of an English shireE
-
Nor is it strange these wanderersF
Find in her lap their fitting placeG
For every particle that's hersF
Came at the first from outer spaceG
-
All that is Earth has once been skyH
Down from the sun of old she cameI
Or from some star that travelled byH
Too close to his entangling flameI
-
Hence if belated drops yet fallJ
From heaven on these her plastic powerD
Still works as once it worked on allJ
The glad rush of the golden showerD
