Noon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCDECCFFGHHGIJI JKIKK

Noon and in the garden bowerA
The hot air quivers o er the grassB
The little lake is smooth as glassB
And still so heavily the hourA
Drags that scarce the proudest flowerA
Pressed upon its burning bedC
Has strength to lift a languid headC
Rose and fainting violetD
By the water s margin setE
Swoon and sink as they were deadC
Though their weary leaves be fedC
With the foam drops of the poolF
Where it trembles dark and coolF
Wrinkled by the fountain sprayingG
O er it And the honey beeH
Hums his drowsy melodyH
And wanders in his course a strayingG
Through the sweet and tangled gladeI
With his golden mead o erladenJ
Where beneath the pleasant shadeI
Of the darkling boughs a maidenJ
Milky limb and fiery tressK
All at sweetest random laidI
Slumbers drunken with the excessK
Of the noontide s lovelinessK
