An Expostulation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCDEEFFGH IIJJKKLLMM

Against too many writers of science fictionA
-
Why did you lure us on like thisB
Light year on light year through the abyssB
Building as though we cared for sizeC
Empires that cover galaxiesD
If at the journey's end we findE
The same old stuff we left behindE
Well worn Tellurian stories ofF
Crooks spies conspirators or loveF
Whose setting might as well have beenG
The Bronx Montmartre or Bedinal GreenH
-
Why should I leave this green floored cellI
Roofed with blue air in which we dwellI
Unless outside its guarded gatesJ
Long long desired the Unearthly waitsJ
Strangeness that moves us more than fearK
Beauty that stabs with tingling spearK
Or Wonder laying on one's heartL
That finger tip at which we startL
As if some thought too swift and shyM
For reason's grasp had just gone byM
