To The Sun Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJK LMNOPQPRPPPSPPMPPTUV UJPWXPYS

Thy light is an eminence unto theeA
And thou art upheld by the pillars of thy strengthB
Thy power is a foundation for the worldsC
They are builded thereon as upon a lofty rockD
Whereto no enemy hath accessE
Thou puttest forth thy rays and they hold the skyF
As in the hollow of an immense handG
Thou erectest thy light as four wallsH
And a roof with many beams and pillarsI
Thy flame is a stronghold based as a mountainJ
Its bastions are tall and firm like stoneK
-
The worlds are bound with the ropes of thy willL
Like steeds are they stayed and constrainedM
By the reins of invisible lightningsN
With bands that are stouter than iron manifoldO
And stronger than the cords of the gulfsP
Thou withholdest them from the brinkQ
Of outward and perilous deepsP
Lest they perish in the desolations of the nightR
Or be stricken of strange sunsP
Lest they be caught in the pitfalls of the abyssP
Or fall into the furnace of ArcturusP
Thy law is as a shore unto themS
And they are restrained thereby as the seaP
Thou art food and drink to the worldsP
Yea by the sustenance are they sustainedM
That they falter not upon the road of spaceP
Whose goal is HerculesP
When thy pillars of force are withdrawnT
And the walls of thy light fall inwardU
And thy head is covered with the ShadowV
The worlds shall wander as men bewilderedU
In the wasteness void of life and barrenJ
Athirst and unfed shall they beP
When the springs of thy strength are dustW
And thy fields of light are black with dearthX
They shall perish from the waysP
That thou showest no longerY
And emptiness shall close above themS
