To Howard Phillips Lovecraft Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDAEEFCGHGIIJIIJFJ KKF EFEFILFMMFIFEMMEE

Lover of hills and fields and towns antiqueA
How hast thou wandered henceB
On ways not found beforeC
Beyond the dawnward spires of ProvidenceD
Hast thou gone forth to seekA
Some older bourn than theseE
Some Arkham of the prime and central wizardriesE
Or with familiar felidaeF
Dost now some new and secret wood exploreC
A little past the senses' farther wallG
Where spring and sunset charm the eternal pathH
From Earth to ether in dimensions nemoralG
Or has the Silver KeyI
Opened perchance for theeI
Wonders and dreams and worlds ulteriorJ
Hast thou gone home to Ulthar or to PnathI
Has the high king who reigns in dim KadathI
Called back his courtly sage ambassadorJ
Or darkling Cthulhu sentF
The sign which makes thee now a councilorJ
Within that foundered fortress of the deepK
Where the Old Ones stir in sleepK
Till mighty temblors shake their slumbering continentF
-
Lo in this little interim of daysE
How far thy feet are spedF
Upon the fabulous and mooted waysE
Where walk the mythic deadF
For us the grief for us the mysteryI
And yet thou art not goneL
Nor given wholly unto dream and dustF
For even uponM
This lonely western hill of AveroigneM
Thy flesh had never visitedF
I meet some wise and sentient wraith of theeI
Some undeparting presence gracious and augustF
More luminous for thee the vernal grassE
More magically dark the Druid stoneM
And in the mind thou art forever shownM
As in a magic glassE
And from the spirit's page thy runes can never passE
