The Unremembered Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CDEDCE

What stern prenatal palls occlude from usA
Once dominant Signs once rampant arms How straitB
The sunless road suspended separateB
That leads from death to birth Not luminousA
-
With lodestar or with star calamitousA
The Past is closed as by the night black spateB
Of planet gulfing seas its keyless gateB
Lost in Avernian shadows cavernousA
-
In his bleak mercy Death forever stripsC
The soul of light and memory rendering blindD
Our vision lest surmounted deeps appalE
As when on mountain heights a glance behindD
Betrays with knowledge and the climber slipsC
Down gulfs of fear to some enormous fallE
