The End Of Autumn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC CBBC EBBE FCCF

Spent autumn wanes the leafA
Forsakes the vine as from her coronalB
The gems might fallB
Forgot by some mad empress in her griefA
-
Now from the sycamoresC
A ruinous and crumpled bronze is castD
Grown sere at lastD
The reeds lie broken on the river shoresC
-
Now from the outland peaksC
The ghostly snows crawl downward on the blueB
Gone forth anewB
For huger suns the southering autumn seeksC
-
Decembral stars returnE
In long blue twilights to the eastern hillB
But lost and stillB
In high ravines her flameless embers burnE
-
Bleak with the winter's breathF
A wind comes down fantastic skeletonsC
Of steel and bronzeC
Creak the cold willows in a dance of deathF
