The Burning-ghauts At Benares Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF

Dark loom the ghauts against the stream and skyA
The smoke doth rise and wind in columns greyB
Red flare the flames of fagots leaping highA
Then smoulder down as dies the darkling dayB
-
Now wendeth a procession mournful slowC
Sharp lined athwart the sun that sets in redD
Upon the pyre they lay the Rajah lowC
Impassive mute this is his final bedD
-
Swift leap the crimson flames above the pyreE
As shades of India's night are falling fastF
On high they leap then sinks the fagot fireE
And dieth slow All things must end at lastF
