The Ancient Quest Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC AEEA FGGF HFFH

O giant stars born of eternal lightA
O winged flames wherewith the void is sownB
As dreadful prophets of a God unknownB
Ye speak the law in lightA
-
Had we but sight to see and comprehendC
Your countless fires were as a language plainD
To tell us all that we have sought in vainD
The quest were at an endC
-
O younger worlds whose tireless pinioned flightA
Climbs eagerly the sheer and topless deepE
O shrivelled planets that obscurely creepE
On orbits sunk in nightA
-
Alike ye falter in unceasing gloomF
That shrouds the deathless Truth ye may not findG
Alike for ye the flaming suns are blindG
And light may not illumeF
-
For Life whose God ambitious eyes would seeH
The stallar manifested truth sublimeF
Must gaze with sight immutable as TimeF
Large as InfinityH
