The Abyss Triumphant Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABA CDEE BBFB EEBE

The force of suns had waned beyond recallA
Chaos was re established over allA
Where lifeless atoms through forgetful deepsB
Fled unrelated cold immusicalA
-
Above the tumult heaven alone enduredC
Long since the bursting walls of hell had pouredD
Demon and damned to peace erstwhile deniedE
Within the Abyss God's might had not immuredE
-
He could but thwart it with creative maceB
And now it rose about the heavenly BaseB
Mordant at pillars rotten through and throughF
Of Matter's last most firm abiding placeB
-
Bastion and minaret began to nodE
Till all the pile unmindful of His rodE
Dissolved in thunder and the void AbyssB
Caught like a quicksand at the feet of GodE
