Supplication Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCAC DEEFDF GHHIGI

Be clement still and steepA
Thy breasts in mandragoreB
And let thy hands a poppied vintage pourB
Whenas we turn idolatrousC
Fain of thy yielded bliss and given sleepA
In nights calamitousC
-
Tender thou art and kindD
Unto thy place we cameE
Through dolorous realms by roads of dust and flameE
Our eyes in twilight sweetly lostF
Are shut like poppy buds against the windD
From heavens of holocaustF
-
Before our feet departG
With hemlock fill the cupH
Our hands unto thy laden urn bold upH
With deadliest dwale bedew thy kissI
To leave a Stygian stillness in the heartG
That begs no later blissI
