Sandalwood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEFAGHAIJKLMLAFN OAPAQROSTO

Upon thy separate roadA
Thou who hast chosen the world's appointed wayB
My songs shall be as the perfume of sandalwoodA
Borne by a secret wind from form lost irretrievable islandsC
Where the hibiscus bowers of our loveD
And the palaces of roseate marbleE
With all their vine caught pillarsF
Were dreamt but never buildedA
And through the clanging tumult of thy daysG
A rumour of phantom chordsH
Of dulcimers destroyedA
And lutes that might have beenI
Shall call and cry to thee as the burden of my songsJ
And thou shalt hear the spectral fountains fallK
Delicious as the laughterL
Of ghosts of amorous womenM
Of flowers that never wereL
And winds that flee exiguous and faintA
Like the sighs of long dead loversF
Through seedless gardens without place or nameN
And thou shalt knowO
What immaterial myrtles pale and sweetA
As the breasts of love worn queensP
Or flushed as with a maiden's glowing bloodA
Were strewn to makeQ
The forfeit couch where two shall never comeR
And knowO
What topaz or what Tyrian coloured winesS
The palm entrellised grapesT
Withhold in lost CocaigneO
