Remembered Light Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGBHIJKIIIIHIIL ICMIMHNHM IIHHHB

The years are a falling of snowA
Slow but without cessationB
On hills and mountains and towers and worlds that wereC
But snow and the crawling night wherein it fellD
May be washed away in one swifter hour of flameE
Thus it was that some slant of sunsetF
In the chasms of pil d cloudG
Transient mountains that made a new horizonB
Uplifting the west to fantastic pinnaclesH
Smote warm in a buried realm of the spiritI
Till the snows of forgetfulness were goneJ
Clear in the vistas of memoryK
The peaks of a world long unrememberedI
Soared further than clouds but fell notI
Based on hills that shook not nor meltedI
With that burden enormous hardly to be believedI
Rent with stupendous chasmsH
Full of an umber twilightI
I beheld that larger worldI
Bright was the twilight clear like ethereal wineL
Above but low in the clefts it thickenedI
Dull as with duskier tinctureC
Like whimsical wings outspread but unstirringM
Flowers that seemed spirits of the twilightI
That must pass with its passingM
Too fragile for day or for darknessH
Fed the dusk with more delicate hues than its ownN
Stars that were nearer more radiant than oursH
Quivered and pulsed in the clear thin gold of the skyM
-
These things I beheldI
Till the gold was shaken with tightI
Of fantastical wings like broken shadowsH
Forerunning the darknessH
Till the twilight shivered with outcry of eldritch voicesH
Like pain's last cry ere oblivionB
