Ye that see in darknessA
When the moon is drownedB
In the coiling fen mistC
Far along the groundB
Ye that see in darknessA
Say what have ye foundB
-
We have seen strange atomsD
Trysting on the airE
The dust of vanished loversF
Long parted in despairE
And dust of flowers that witheredG
In worlds of otherwhereE
-
We have seen the nightmaresH
Winging down the skyI
Bat like and silentJ
To where the sleepers lieI
We have seen the bosomsH
Of the succubiK
-
We have seen the crystalL
Of dead Medusa's tearsH
We have watched the undinesH
That wane in stagnant weirsH
And mandrakes madly dancingM
By black blood swollen meresH
-
We have seen the satyrsH
Their ancient loves renewN
With moon white nymphs of cypressH
Pale dryads of the yewN
In the tall grass of graveyardsH
Weighed down with evening's dewN
-
We have seen the darknessH
Where charnel things decayO
Where atom moves with atomP
In shining swift arrayO
Like ordered constellationsH
On some sidereal wayO
-
We have seen fair colorsH
That dwell not in the lightQ
Intenser gold and irisH
Occult and reconditeQ
We have seen the black sunsH
Pouring forth the nightQ
