Nightfall Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EBFE FGGG HIH

Low on the lilac breast of eveA
The yellow rose of sunset liesB
Beneath my cheek with little sighsB
I feel thy happy bosom heaveA
-
Ah darling let the sun departC
And night usurp the western hillsD
A dearer flame thy bosom fillsD
And clearer suns are in my heartC
-
Love hath no need of other lightE
Thy kisses on my lips and eyesB
Are like the dawn in ParadiseF
That burns upon the lidded sightE
-
Our bodies find an ecstacyF
A deepening rapture soft and fairG
Like the blue seas and roseal airG
About the isles of FaeryG
-
Thine ardent limbs are mine to holdH
From brow to breast from knee to side My kisses and caresses glideI
Like unseen flames of red and goldH
