Night (twilight) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKJLJ MN

Twilight dim and grayA
The last red rays of the sunB
And slowly dieth the dayA
Its work is doneB
Darkness cometh on apaceC
The shadows into darkness mergeD
All is black before thy faceC
All things the night doth purgeD
-
Darkness and the stillness of the tombE
Thou canst feel an oppressing weightF
Suddenly the yellow moon doth loomE
Like the impending hand of fateF
The second day hath comeG
The night in silver lightH
Is bathed Nature sticken dumbG
Is silent all the nightH
-
Blacker seem the shadows darkI
In contrast with the silver gleamJ
The trees stand gaunt and starkI
Like spectres in a dreamJ
And over all the silver pallK
The bright and silent beamJ
Shining on illuminating allL
The hills the woods the silent streamJ
-
The yellow ball on the water shinesM
The shadows dance in a sudden breezeN
