Jungle Twilight Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBA CBBBC DEEFD GHHIG

From teak and tamarind and palmA
The heavy sun goes down unseenB
The jungle drowns in duskier greenB
And quickening perfumes vespertineB
Alone assail the sluggish calmA
-
Narcotic silence opiate gloomC
The painted parakeets are goneB
The blazoned butterflies withdrawnB
Nocturnal blossoms weird and wanB
Like phantom wings and faces bloomC
-
In the high trees the darkness growsD
And rising overbrims the skyE
Like a black serpent gliding hyE
'Neath woven creepers covertlyF
Unknown and near the river flowsD
-
Where deeplier in oblivion's tideG
The dateless fair pagodas fallH
And winding on the toppled wallH
Where carven gods hold carnivalI
The cobra couples with his brideG
