If Winter Remain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDBEFGHI DDJKLFFKMNDDJ JFKOPQBKRPJFFJFBDS

Hateful and most abhorredA
about us the seasonB
of sleet of snow and of frostC
reaches and seems unendingD
as plains whereonB
lashed prisoners goE
chained and enforcedF
to labor in glacial minesG
digging the baubles of greybeard kingsH
of bleak Polarian lordsI
-
Benumbed and failingD
we languish for shores CanopicD
that founder to vaults of fireJ
for streams of ensanguined lotusK
drinking the candent flameL
with lips unsered unsatedF
for valleys wherein no shadowF
whether of cassia or cypressK
shall harbor the ghost of iceM
the winter's etiolate phantomN
Benumbed and failingD
we languish for shores CanopicD
that founder to vaults of fireJ
-
Fain would we hail the summerJ
like slaves endungeonedF
beneath some floe built fortressK
greeting their liberatorO
the hero in golden mailP
But if summer should come no moreQ
and winter remainB
a stark colossusK
bestriding the yearsR
if silent and paleP
with marmoreal armorJ
the empire of coldF
should clasp the worldF
to its rimed equatorJ
beneath the lowF
short arc of the sunB
out ringed by the far flungD
orbit of deathS
