Fire Of Snow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABBA ADEDAE

Pale fire of snow had lit the dusk for meA
Astray with mind half consciously intentB
I had not thought the wood so imminentC
Pregnant with pine and sombre cypress treeA
Darker than sleep and mute with mysteryA
Like far off death where questing dreams are spentB
Their winding caverns deepened as I wentB
Therein and paused in old expectancyA
-
Pale fire of snow had lit the dusk for meA
But the black stillness held where once the windD
Had parted boughs in music that the gleamE
Of stars might enter all was strangely blindD
Like midnight thickening 'neath the middle seaA
Filled with the silence of a time slain dreamE
