Dominium In Excelsis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCA CCDC DDED EEFE FFGF GGEG EHIE III

Exalt thyself be more than manA
Be saint or be magicianB
And where the burning Sword awaitsC
Defy the old seraphic banA
-
Thy will that climbs from dark estatesC
Shall divinize the godless fatesC
This fiery ecstasy of dreamD
Melt down the grim forbidden gatesC
-
That open into spheres extremeD
Beyond the starry bubbled streamD
Beyond Capella past AltairE
Where amaranthine gardens gleamD
-
Thy feet shall tread the Scorpion's lairE
Thy hands shall catch the comet's hairE
Or over Endor thou shalt rideF
Unfrighted on the tamed NightmareE
-
And thence go down where ghosts have diedF
And famished ghouls and vampires glideF
Or tarry in years behind the tombG
Or in the multiple futures bideF
-
Thou shalt respire the flame and fumeG
Of Beltis' altars drowned in gloomG
Under her sharded fanes or shareE
The fabled Atlantean doomG
-
And rise unharmed to light and airE
Out of old death once more to deathH
With antinomian deed and thoughtI
The planet of thy slain despairE
-
Till stones and atoms shadow wroughtI
Dissolving shall return to naughtI
Or into fairer shapes be broughtI
