De Profundis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL

Too long alas too longA
My patient heart enduresB
This deep and desperate wrongA
To walk on fallen ways afar from yoursB
-
O pain that loses notC
Its sharp and ancient stingD
O rapture unforgotC
Whereof some dark tomorrow yet shall singD
-
O spirit blood and boneE
Whose deepening voices cryF
She is mine own mine ownE
Though earth and all the ascendant spheres denyF
-
For her I have arisenG
From many a broken tombH
From out the darkling prisonG
Of sunken worlds and avatars of doomH
-
For her I bear the FlameI
Replenished from of yoreJ
Unquenchably the sameI
Like the great fire within the planet's coreJ
-
O Flame that shall not failK
In voids of time and spaceL
At last you shall availK
To light my feet to her abiding placeL
