Averted Malefice Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA BCDBCD

Where mandrakes crying from the moonless fenA
Told how a witch with eyes of owl or batB
Found and each root maleficently fatB
Pulled for her waiting cauldron on my kenA
Upstole escaping to the world of menA
A vapor as of some infernal vatB
Across the stars it clomb and caught thereatB
As if their bright regard to veil againA
-
Despite the web methought they knew appalledB
The stealthier weft in which all sound was stillC
Then sprang as if the night found breath anewD
A wind whereby the stars were disenthralledB
Far off I heard the cry of frustrate illC
A witch that wailed above her curdled brewD
